From the Daily Reading on the 27th of January 2018

1 Kgs 8:22-23, 27-30;
Solomon stood before the altar of the LORD in the presence of the whole
community of Israel, and stretching forth his hands toward heaven, he said,
“LORD, God of Israel, there is no God like you in heaven above or on earth
below; you keep your covenant of mercy with your servants who are faithful
to you with their whole heart.

           (As you read; Listen to the phrase “temple”. Can you replace the word in that location)
          (and refer to yourself as the ‘temple”? Just what does this bring to your mind, What is God)
          (trying to get you to understand?)

“Can it indeed be that God dwells on earth? If the heavens and the highest
heavens cannot contain you, how much less this temple which I have built!

Look kindly on the prayer and petition of your servant, O LORD, my God, and
listen to the cry of supplication which I, your servant, utter before you this
day. May your eyes watch night and day over this temple, the place where you
have decreed you shall be honored; may you heed the prayer which I, your servant,
offer in this place. Listen to the petitions of your servant and of your people
Israel which they offer in this place. Listen from your heavenly dwelling and grant pardon.”

          "What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God;
          as God said, "I will live in them and move among them, and I will be their God, and they shall
          be my people".

I Ask Myself

 What can I do, as an imperfect Sinner, to Love and Serve The Lord Our God with all my Heart,
all my Love and all my Soul?

Humbly beg for Mercy!
Then Listen and Believe.

“From the ramblings of a Searcher, a “Lost One” unto himself.”

Can I “Focus” on what you need Lord? Can I “Open” myself to your biding? Can I be “Attentive” to your wishes?
Help me Lord with your Great Mercy to help me see and hear, to understand and desire your help, to participate with
that I cannot comprehend and be that “Good and Faithful Servant”.

Thoughts:

A Letter to the Lord

             Lord Have Mercy, With me I need to change from the “I” word (IF) to the “H” word (HOW)
and then change to the “W” words (WHAT _ WHERE _ WHEN).

IF: If I want to make a choice to pay attention to our Lord Jesus Christ on any given time or day.

HOW: How do I seek out and focus on my part and His Love that is always there.

WHAT: What do I need to do to love him back. To open my self and make contact with what he is trying
to persuade me to do or see.

WHERE: Where do I start and proceed in the direction of this love. To find “that spot” deep inside me
that is the dwelling place of our Lords presence.

WHEN: When do I open my self to the Lords Love and respond by completely dedicating my self to
His Love.

These questions are ever present in my mind and I do not have a grasp on the method of answering them.
I know that the Holy Spirit resided in me for I have felt and received thoughts that point me in that
direction of knowledge. I know that Christ is in me because of the Scriptures Passages and Teachings,
so why is it so hard to understand? Can I follow my own advice given above and change my perceptions of what I am to do or should I just ask or Lord for a humble and loving heart?
My obstacles as I see it are Pride, Fear, Hard Headedness, a “Stiff Neck” attitude, Lack of Dedication,
No Resolve, No Focus, No “Stick to It” type of attitude but mostly Lack of a complete giving Love
(on my part for our Lord Jesus Christ).

I must admit my guilt that I have in not loved fully all people but mostly our Lord.
I must admit my guilt that I retain those practices that hinder my love for the Lord.
I am “self center” in my thinking.
I am “greedy” with what I have and what I want.
I am Lustful in what I do not have.

I am so sorry that it took 76 years to see that I am on the wrong path and seeking the things that do no
fulfill but fade away.
What will be missed when I am gone, I will not have a close circle of friends and family around Me,
as I did not provide that love for my family and friends after they where out of my sight or no longer on my mind.
The Lord said that we will reap what we sow and thus I believe that I will be lonely more and more each day that I live here on earth and even into eternity.

So why and I writing this, Why am I taking the Time to think about this and put it down,
I guess this the “W” word that I did not include above (WHY).
I don’t know the Why behind this effort but I can believe that it is because I needed to do this.
Hopefully it is because My Lord Jesus Christ has called me to confront a closed door, a wrong path,
a miss directed effort, a “Sorry for Me” thought or even a “I know better than any one else” attitude.

Hopefully this will lead me to the answer of a few of the (I – H - W) words in my mind.

Thank you God for your everlasting love and constant protection, through those you sent my way to help me enjoy myself, even though I did not recognize your efforts and how they affected me daily.

 Where was Mary when the angle appeared to her and announced that she was to bear a male son called Emanuel?
Luke 1:26 Nazareth, a town in Galilee

Where did Elizabeth live?
Their house in "Hebron, in the hill country of Judah" Note:^ compare Luke 1:39–40 with Joshua 21:11
The Treasury of Scripture Knowledge says, "This was most probably Hebron, a city of the priests, and situated in the hill country of Judea, (Jos 11:21; 21:11, 13,) about 25 miles south of Jerusalem, and nearly 100 miles from Nazareth."

How long would it have taken to travel by caravan 100 miles at the time of our Lords Birth?
If, as some suggest, Caravans would travel about 20 miles in a day then it would have been only 5 days for Mary to get to see Elizabeth, presumably I ask you now a question based on these loosely fixed facts.

If Mary conceived at the time she agreed to be the hand maiden of our Lord and she traveled 5 days to greet Elizabeth, How could John have jumped for Joy at the sound of her voice as she would have been pregnant for only 5 days.

Does this then not imply that a life begins with conception?

It an interesting point to consider when any argument arises about when a fetus is a person.
For if God so set in place the events of Luke’s account, who can deny what we as his people should believe.

Thoughts:

What Do Thy Eyes See

        One Sunday morning waiting for Mass to start I began to look at the wooden roof supports that
arch from the floor to the peak of the roof at Holy Spirit Church in Bowling Green, Kentucky. I was
admiring the massive wooden structures for their appearance and the job that they preformed holding the
building together, which led me to think about how they where made. They are very nice looking with
many pieces of wood that where more than likely heated in water and steam, glued together as they
where assembled in a fixture so that they could be formed into that style of arch. After all the parts
where put into place they where probably trimmed, sanded to specifications and finished to look as they
do today. I noticed that there where a lot of knot holes showing on the sides of the wooden trusses
supports and thought that was a shame to see them there even though it probably did not hurt the overall
structural support. Nice job I thought but it probably took a lot of work and planning to get the results
that the company wanted. Then I was surprised at something else that I started to see.

        My mind started to visualize a different maker and how he built these supports which where used
to support the church. As I looked at the individual small pieces of wood I thought of the builder and his
selection of each plank. I thought of the knotholes, as imperfections in our lives some still not filled. I
thought of the preparing the plank for the support that requires cutting and trimming to make the planks
useable for the task at hand. I began to visualize our carpenter’s nurturing hands working with each and
every one of us to take our place in the church. Can you see him selecting us from the Tree Of Life and
forming us by giving us the Water of life and the Holy Spirit To mold us in the fixture that will help us
conform to his father’s wishes. Look at each plank as it is gently heated and bathed with love, taking
shape in the form, being cemented together with the love of God to bind each one of us together. It does
not matter that we have imperfections we are bound together supporting each other for the support of the
church. The trusses once installed stand tall arched from their roots in the ground up to the top of the
church like we stand together as a community supporting our church. Just like our church there are
numerous communities supporting the complete church into which we all belong.

         It is with these eyes that I see God and the marvels that he has made, thanks to his wisdom that he
made known to me this day. It is with these eyes that I wish and pray to always have the ability to see my
part in Gods plan. May your eyes be also blessed, by the loving hands of our Carpenter King, so that we
can all be formed to be the support of his church and the church of our Father.
